There are two types of managers under the Immigration Act:

1. A manager of a function which is essential to the corporation.  The manager must operate at a senior level within the company or at a senior level with regard to the function; or

2. The manager may qualify on the basis of managing others.  In this situation managers must manage professionals or other managers, and must have authority to direct, hire and fire personnel.

Definition of executive

In most instances an executive is managing at least a function and will qualify under the definition of manager.
