INVESTING IN THE U.S.A.

The most often-asked business immigration question is:

"How can I start up a business in the U.S.A.?"

Two articles have been devoted to this topic:

A.  Even a Small Foreign Corporation can be the Stepping Stone into the United States - This visa is available to citizens of almost all countries of the world.  While this article gives an overview of the L-1 visa, you are also encouraged to refer to the section entitled "Intracompany Transferee Visa (L-1)" which appears in the Working Visas section of this site.

B.  Investing in the United States Of America - This article deals with two visas:

1.  THE TREATY INVESTOR Visa (E-2). This visa entitles citizens of certain countries to make an investment in the U.S.A. and to direct and manage the business. This is a temporary visa. There is no need to show that the applicant is coming to the U.S.A. for a specific period of time provided that there is an ultimate intention to depart the country and not remain in the U.S.A. permanently.

2.  THE EMPLOYMENT CREATION GREENCARD.  This visa entitles people to acquire permanent residence by making a very large investment in a business in the U.S.A. which will employ at least 10 people.
